Mini review: Absolutely brilliant. One of my favourite Hayao Miyazaki films, and in my opinion, it pwns Spirited Away effortlessly.
Or maybe it's because I've read Diana Wynne Jones books before, and she writes beautifully, I think. I would enjoy watching Miyazaki do some of her Chrestomanci books. XD
On with the review. Howl's Moving Castle is smooth, the scenes appropriately dramatic and clean...well...WATCH IT. That's all I can say, really. I enjoyed how Miyazaki chose to do the animation, and I wasn't disappointed with it, like some other movies/anime do when they're adapted from books/manga. Howl is yummily smexy, and Calcifer can be funny, too. ^^
Watch!!
By the way, what's with the PG rating and the 'scary scenes'? ..... X)

Mini review:Unlike what rage thought, I liked Spirited Away and Castle in the Sky more than I did Howl’s Moving Castle. Yes, it is a brilliantly done movie, as expected of Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli. However, I found that the plot was a bit difficult to follow, so I had to re-watch it to fully comprehend the plot. It has been a while since I have seen the movie, so my memory is a bit fuzzy. The animation was really smooth, and the story wasn’t disappointing at all, from what I remembered. The art was beautifully drawn, and though the plot was a confusing, it is complex and amazingly planned out. The characterization and character development seemed nicely captured, and the somewhat twisted humor amused me.
The movie isn’t happy-go-lucky and all cheerful as I first thought it would be when I saw the promo and cover for the movie. It’s dark and has quite a few violent scenes, but overall, very enjoyable. I recommend this to everyone, except for those who have trouble understanding and following the plots of movies and/or books because I know a lot of those people. XDDDD

Mini review: I have to agree with Rea on Spirited Away. I liked it quite a bit more than I did Howl's Moving Castle. Howl's was... rather confusing I'd say. The basic plot is easy enough to understand, but Miyazaki didn't elaborate on many other elements of the story. I wouldn't have understood most of the subplots etc. if I hadn't read the wikipedia articles for both the book and the movie. Apparently, most of what I couldn't understand was explained in the book.
While it could have been more fleshed out for clarity's sake, the art was lovely and "Grandma" Sophie was just adorable. But for some reason, Howl didn't seem to play a huge role in the story from my view, which is odd because he's the titular character. But in general, it's enjoyable.
